Brief
Captain White’s Seafood City, a well-loved, family-owned seafood staple in DC, partnered with Irish Titan to launch their first ecommerce site and modernize their digital presence. In the past, their brand recognition was enough for customers to use their ‘call to order’ website. With a move to a second location, they knew they needed a stronger presence.
WHY
Captain White’s Seafood City, a staple in the Washington, D.C. metro area since 1972, wanted to launch their first real Ecommerce site. They were expanding to a second location, taking on a brand refresh, and looking to invest in taking their business to the next level.
In the past, they were ‘call to order’ on their website, so they needed to start E-commerce with a bang to grow the business even stronger. They asked for a 24/7 digital storefront that doesn’t rely solely on phone orders or one multitasking team member. That’s what E-commerce is all about.
Their goal?
A scalable online operation that bends to how THEY do business, not the other way around, supports their thriving operation, all while preserving their fun, friendly brand voice.
They launched too many cheers from new customers, with plans to expand into digital marketing, email, and SMS post-launch.
WHAT
E-commerce Implementation: Built a themed Shopify site to enable online sales, starting with merchandise and gradually adding food products.
Digital Modernization: Created a "fresh user experience" and improved their brand messaging and storytelling.
SEO and Marketing: Implemented SEO best practices for the website launch. Post launch, they expanded into digital marketing, email, and SMS.
Shipping Strategy: Helped to examine the best shipping methods for nationwide shipping, including recommendations like ShipperHQ for advanced shipping rules and UPS as a common carrier. We're working with them on strategies around daily price fluctuations for seafood and shipping perishable goods.
Integrations and Operations: Explored and recommended strong integrations, such as using the Clover Sync native app for Clover POS integration. Assisted with Shopify Payments setup and Shopify Tax setup.
Content and Design: Provided content consultation, focused on a mobile-friendly design. Created page designs and layouts that are "evergreen" to minimize update time.
Training: Provided content training to Captain White's Seafood City staff for future content management.
Overcoming Internal Limitations: Created a "turnkey E-commerce operation online" as Captain White's only has one team member who handles all digital efforts. Talk about wearing a lot of captains’ hats.

HOW
The build is themed with little to no custom dev for speed, with strong integrations, content consultation, SEO groundwork, and a focus on mobile-friendly design. Pete White, the hands-on owner with a head for sales and a heart for the business, relied on Irish Titan to lead with expertise and make the digital transition as smooth as their crab dip.
